Winemaker Vision

At Viña Koyle, winemaking is guided by a profound respect for nature and the belief that exceptional wines begin in the vineyard. Led by Cristóbal Undurraga, the winery embraces organic and biodynamic farming to reveal the purest expression of its terroir. Through minimal intervention, careful vineyard management, and a commitment to sustainability, Koyle produces elegant, structured wines that reflect the distinctive character of Chile's Andean foothills.

Terroir

Located in Los Lingues, Alto Colchagua, at the foothills of the Andes Mountains, Viña Koyle benefits from a distinctive combination of elevation, mineral-rich soils, and Mediterranean climatic influences. Its vineyards are planted on ancient terraces with a mixture of volcanic, basaltic, and alluvial soils, providing excellent drainage and encouraging deep root development. Warm, sunny days support gradual grape ripening, while cool mountain breezes and significant nighttime temperature drops help preserve acidity and aromatic freshness. These conditions are particularly favourable for varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Carménère, Syrah, Malbec, and Cabernet Franc. Koyle's biodynamic farming practices further emphasize soil vitality, biodiversity, and the natural balance of the vineyard, producing wines with concentration, freshness, and a strong sense of place.
