Winemaker Vision

Hentley Farm is guided by a philosophy that exceptional wines begin in the vineyard. With a commitment to expressing the individuality of each vineyard site, the estate combines meticulous viticulture, thoughtful winemaking, and minimal intervention to create wines of depth, elegance, and balance. Its approach celebrates the distinctive character of the Barossa Valley while allowing each grape variety and parcel of land to reveal its own personality.

Terroir

Situated in Seppeltsfield, on the western edge of South Australia's Barossa Valley, Hentley Farm benefits from a diverse landscape of rolling hills, varied elevations, and distinctive soil profiles. The region's Mediterranean climate, characterized by warm, dry summers and cooler nights, encourages concentrated fruit development while preserving freshness. The estate's vineyards feature variations in soil depth, clay content, and rocky terrain, creating different growing conditions across individual blocks. These characteristics are particularly well suited to Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Grenache, contributing to wines with rich fruit concentration, refined tannins, and remarkable complexity.

About the Winery

Founded by Keith and Alison Hentschke, Hentley Farm was established in the Barossa Valley after the couple acquired their first vineyard property in 1997. Recognizing the exceptional potential of the Seppeltsfield landscape, they developed an estate dedicated to producing premium wines that reflect the individuality of its vineyards. The winery became known for its carefully managed vineyard parcels and distinctive wines, including The Beast Shiraz, The Beauty Shiraz, and The Old Legend Grenache. Its philosophy emphasizes the relationship between vineyard conditions and wine quality, with each wine crafted to express the character of its origin. Today, Hentley Farm is recognized for its premium Barossa Valley wines, combining regional heritage, contemporary winemaking, and a strong commitment to quality.
