Ramón Castaño Santa from Bodegas Castaño comes from serveral generations of both vine-growers and winemakers. In 1950 he built a new technologically advanced winery and increased the hectares of vineyards. The Castaño family has always been considered a pioneer in the area, experimenting with the grape variety Monastrell to create both single varietal wines and to blend with other varieties.
