In the words of Oz’s #1 wine writer James Halliday, “This is so seductive it pains me to spit it out!” He is, of course referring to the classic Bordeaux Blend from Bleasdale that carries the name of its founder Frank Potts. With a 95-point rating and a bounty of black fruit in the glass, this Aussie-bomb is a steal at this price.
This wine is layered and complex with red berry and darker fruit aromas, notably blackcurrant, plum and lifted violets. These characters continue onto the palate, with floral and fruit layers supported by fine oak tannin and lively berry fruit persistence. Balanced, finely structured and perfumed, this wine shows considerable length and structure and will benefit from cellaring for 10 to 20 years. Bottled without filtration, decanting two hours prior to consumption is recommended.
