The name Alpha Crucis comes from the brightest star in the Southern Cross constellation—the most conspicuous star formation visible from the southern hemisphere. Alpha Crucis wines aspire to be the best and brightest wines from the McLaren Vale vineyards. These wines are only produced in years of outstanding quality and varietal integrity.
Hand-picked fruit spent three days cold soaking giving the juice full flavour and colour. The parcels went into open fermenters for 12 days. The wine was then transferred to a combination of French oak puncheons and hogsheads, 40% new for 15 months.
The colour is deep garnet with aromatics of dark cherry and plums with layers of chocolate and spice. A concentrated and textured wine with layers of dark fruits—plums and dark cherry, combine with dark chocolate notes. The finish is luxurious and long with hints of roasted nuts, truffles and licorice. A powerful wine at great value—a perfect combination!
