RICH AUSTRALIAN HERITAGE
History dates back to the 1850s when William Hill first took up land in Langhorne Creek, building the initial homestead later known as ‘Fairholme’. William’s granddaughter married Arthur J Follett, who established the first vineyards on the property during the late 1880s.
The property had always combined a successful dairy farm along with grape growing. The ‘Bremer View Illawarra Stud’ was founded by Len Follett in 1932 and he became well recognised for running one of the best production Illawarra herds in South Australia.
Over the years the farm began to place a greater emphasis on grape growing. In the 1960s and 70s the Palomino and Doradillo vines were replaced with Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and later Chardonnay.
A new chapter began for the Follett family with the first Lake Breeze wine produced in 1987. This led to the opening of the cellar door in 1991.
